Tasting notes from two
Masters of Wine on the 2004 and 2005 Chardonnays are shown
below. The 2006 Chardonnay has now been released, and our
customers tell us it is even better.
Tasting notes: 2005 Farrow & Jackson Chardonnay
Colour
A pale yellow-straw.
Nose
Intense and fruit-forward, with ripe nectarine character
and slight tropical overtones. Very subtle hints
of oak.
Palate
Full-flavoured and soft, with tropical and citrus characters,
a light talc-like texture and mild acidity.
The wine shows
the intense, fresh fruit and stylish palate which marks the
best wines from cool regions. It is
a beautiful accompaniment to full-flavoured white meat dishes
and seafood, and may be cellared for another two years for
greater complexity.

Tasting Notes: 2004 Farrow & Jackson Chardonnay
This
wine displays all the hallmarks of a quality cool climate
chardonnay. It displays great poise and elegance already
and is best consumed over the next 2 to 3 years
Pale yellow to yellow in colour with fresh passionfruit/pineapple
nuances dominating the nose. There is a hint of French oak
on the nose but it is subtle and well balanced. The palate
is extremely elegant. Intense passionfruit flavours, zippy
acidity and great cedary oak, work seamlessly together to
create a complete wine.
Secondary buttery/creamy notes are
a fine encore, and gives the palate a lovely silkiness and
depth. The fresh acidity lifts the whole palate profile and
gives the wine vibrancy. A very complete wine of high quality.
The best Farrow and Jackson chardonnay yet. Drink now to
3 years.
